From a cross in 1975, Lachenalia 'Rosabeth' was first released to the flower industry in 1982.

It was first imported into Australia in 2016, released that year, and is one of the last cultivars to flower each year.

"Rosabeth" was the first red flowering Lachenalia cultivar released to the flower industry.

A wonderfull tall red infloresence with a highlight of green tips, on a very strong upright stem.

Apart from the bright red colour the flowers have green to bluish tips. The inflorescence has a length of 200 to 250mm and one or two can develop per bulb. The pendulous to horizontal flowers vary in number (30 to 40 per inflorescence) and have a mean length of 30mm and a diameter of 6 to 8 mm. This cultivar occasionally throws an unstable variegated chimera which is very attractive.

The two to three horizontally borne, lenceolate shaped leaves, which develop from a single bulb, have a medium-green colour. Maroon coloured spots occur on half of the area of the smooth leaves.

'Rosabeth" is extremely suited to be cultivated as a pot plant. It has a growth period of approximately 7 months and starts to flower during July. The flowers last up to the end of August for a 6 to 7 week period. The plants are winter flowering and grow well at temperatures of about 16oC.

One of the later flowering of these high class cultivars.

An excellent cut flower.

Exceptional potted colour. An ideal cultivar for a massed display in the garden.
